Welcome to the Exciting and Rewarding World of Homesteading!

For 26 years, we were homesteaders. During the first 11 years we also worked fulltime, and then we retired early. I worked part time with a publishing company (just in case I didn't have enough to do "on the farm"). Now fully retired, I've had time to reflect on our time on the farm, and I realized that if we'd had some kind of guide to help us - we would have been so much better off, and saved ourselves a lot of time, effort and money. Back then, there was only the Farmer's Almanac and your neighbors to depend on... I wish we'd had a series like this by someone who has been there/done that to share insights and ideas for us, every step of the way.

In my "previous" life (i.e. pre-homesteading) I was a power systems engineer with a background in physics and astrophysics. I designed power management systems for space systems that utilized solar panels. After 10-12 years of being the only female in the room, the innuendos became tiresome, and I left the field. However, this experience gave me the knowledge to make sure we had a solid solar power system.  

Combining my knowledge in physics and power systems, with all we learned about Homesteading, and the added experience in publishing - it just made sense to combine all of these into a series of books to help future homesteaders to experience a shorter learning curve than we had, and information that will help you to homestead well into the future including modern technologies mixed with old fashioned know-how and knowledge.
